Educational CampaignsWhat Will You Do? is a comprehensive social marketing and community outreach campaign. It is basically a one-stop-shop for violence prevention. It simultaneously educates, engages, and elicits participation from communities.
What Will You Do?utilizes two powerful violence prevention tools -- the bystander-action approach (Banyard et al, 2007) and social norms theory (Perkins & Berkowitz, 1986) -- to help communities focus on specific suggestions (action outcomes) for how they can respond to the attitudes and behaviors that allow violence to flourish.
Our campaign curriculum and materials, along with consultation will prepare you to customize and sustain a community-based campaign that can:
Provide men and women in your community access to clear and concrete steps they can take to prevent violence before it happens, and better support survivors of violence.
Motivate community members to participate in sharing what they “will do” to prevent violence through social marketing and a “Viral Challenge” (where community members recruit others to share what they “will do”)
Model positive “action” behaviors for men to emulate in their efforts to prevent violence against women instead of simply “protecting” women.
Teach mentors how to engage men in substantive and intimate dialogues about preventing violence.
Enhance opportunities for collaboration with other community groups/organizations.
